Final Journal.

This semester was so excited to me because I met a lot of good classmates and teachers. I learned a lot of things in composition class because Sean always gave a lot of homeworks. hahaha. But it was not bad becuase I had many chances to write essays even though sometimes it bothered me. And I still do hard work in TOEFL. I hope to pass it in this month.

Baraka Film.

- Indonesia Bali’s traditional acting or playing.
A lot of people divided two groups and do acting together or separately. It looks
like asking and answering or fighting. In addition, every people was men, they
did not have women. They wore traditional clothes, and did acting around
temples.

- It was first time to see Bali’s
traditional play for me from media. Moreover, it was the first scene that did
not use background music in this movie. They input original sounds in this
scene, so it was standing out to me.

- I did not feel good or bad feeling, but I
felt wired feeling because I could not understand what they want to say and act.
And their facial expressions were so scary to me.

- Japanese subway stations’ scenes.
This scene made me think about my daily
life in Korea. In Korea, I always used subway, so I slept in the subway. Sometimes,
I miss hectic life because American life is sometimes allowed me to live looser
life than Korea.

Dear. Father and Mother

I really want to buy a new laptop because I need it for doing some work. I know you do not agree to buy it because 2 years ago, I bought a laptop that was so expensive. So, you thought I do not need to buy a new laptop. However, mom and dad, it is not good for my music work because they do not provide a program that school uses in classes. Every student use Mac computures, so I also need it for doing good jobs in classes. In addition, these days, Apple store does the sale every product because of Black Friday. It is a good chance to buy it cheaper than other days. I want to get a good grade in every class, so I really need it. Please allow to buy it. I love you so much.

Carey Gordon uses music for beating stress (par.1). He found a fact in 2004 that music helps to return his work and made him to have his upbeat attitude in his life (par.3). He said, "It was music that got me into that jolly fun-loving (mood again). And it helped me to help other people change their mood as well." (par.4). Music therapy is popular to use for treatment brain injury or other problmes (par.5). Music rhythms can control human bodies' movements (par.6). Therefore, a lot of institutions do experiments about it for finding more benefits to people who are injury.

In this article Kelly argues people have to understand animals for living together by friends and family. She said a lot of people depend on animals in every area such as life companions, medication, and so on (par. 8). Some people are seriously depends on animals, so they are seen
as a bit crazy (par.2). In addition, some celebrities enjoy hunting animals for showing their power to citizens (par. 3). She argues we cannot use animals just for satisfying our feeling or life because animals also have emotions and volitions. If we use animals for our satisfying, it just becomes to bother them (par. 9).

This book was written by Kathryn Marie Kalinak. The reason why I choose this book is that this book includes a lot of information what I want to use. This book provides film music information shortly but it includes everything about film music such as history, role, reason why use, and way to use. I will find information what does film music do?, how does film music work?, Why does film music work? from this book.

Paul Kalina who wrote this book gives exmples more than 400 filmes that anaylized by composers and ABC broadcasters in the book. I think it really helps me to get information about a soundtrack part of my research paper. He gives detail information how a composer use music or sound inside a movie. I want to know how music or sound is used differecntly in each movie and how can affect these things inside movies.

My topic is Film Music. I am really interest about this areas. However, I cannot do research every area. So, I will research sound effects, soundtrack(recordings), functions and history. I have some questions:

* When movie directors start to use music in the movie?

* Who was used music first?

* What is sound effects?

* How can sound engineers insert effects in movie?

* How can sound effects affect to every scene?

* What is the soundtrack?

* What is the function of film music?

I alrealy know film music is one of important parts in movie, so it is really necessary for making movies perfectly to directors. And movie is needed a lot of sound effects because cameras cannot record every sound well. So, they record sound again when they finished editing movies. Also, soundtrack is another name of film music. Filme music is called different names such as film socring, soundtrack, or film msuic.

I really want to learn about this area because my dream is making film music. Maybe this research paper will help me to know film music more.

Journal. 10 : Advice

When I was a freshmen in College, I suffered some depressions because studying music was so difficult to me. That time, I really wanted to give up studying music. However, my teacher who taught me before I entered the university gave advice to me. Her advice made me to have confidence. She told me you already made a miracle that entered the university by studying hard, so I trust if you effort to study hard in university times, you will be made another miracles. I think I do not have any talent about music, so always I have a question why I study music since I started music study. I do not find an answer yet.

Among my friends, I always a counselor. If they have some problems, they always call to me even mid-night. Sometimes, they make me so tired, but I usually enjoy to listen their problmes and to give advice to them. one or two months ago, my friends had a problem with making a boyfriend. That time, I gave some advice and now they became a couple. These days, even her boyfriend asks something to me. Even though, I always give advice to them, I also learn something while talking with them.

I think giving or receiveing advice is necessary for people to have problems because sometimes solving problems are difficult to people by own thinkings. However, someone give advice to them, it can help them to solve problems easily.

Could you give me some advice to finish TOEFL? T.T

American Food.

Honestly, I never think what is the traditional American food. I think hamburger are the one of famous traditional American food, so if my friend ask me to go eating American food, it means going to hamburger restaurants such as MacDonald or Burger King. In addition, fan cakes and stakes are also the famous traditional American food, also.

I think American food is really similar with Europe countires' food because they also love to eat meat, beef, or bread. But I do not know why American people become more fat than Europe countries.

Moreover, American food is really salty than my counrty's food. Salty food also make american people to become obesities. These days, of course, Korean food culture accepts other countries' food, so we also love to eat American food because we live hatic lives and it is really convenient. However, in my country, we still think nutritions are more important than convenient, so we spend more time to cook. But in America, they like to eat fast food because it is really convienent for eating and they do not need to spend too much time for cooking or eating food. Even though they know fast food is not good for their healthy, they enjoy to eat that. I think Amercian food like drugs that I cannot quit if I try to eat one time.

I love to eat American food especially hamburgers, but I made a decision to reduce eating it after I watched movie called "Obesity in America" in last composition class.

This quote means people who think about something positively can find every opportunity in every difficulty situation, but people who think about something negatively find the difficulty in every opportunity.

I agree with it because if I think some situations negatively, it always makes me nothing to do, so I always try to have good thinkings in my life. However, it is so difficult for me to make positive thinking. I don't know why. These days, I am so pessimistic because I don't pass the TOEFL yet. Taking TOEFL always makes me negatively. But since today, I want to change my thinking from pessimistic to optimistic. I can do it!!!

When I met my friends first time, we did not have any embrassment. I don't know how we became best friends. We just became best friends. As time goes by, my friends and I knew we have a lot of commons in personalities. We love to talk, eat, drink, or take a trip. Because we have a lot of commons, it is really easy for us to make decisions what we will do. However, if we have some problems, conflicts or fights about something, it is really hard for us to slove situations because it is difficult for us to sorry. I don't know why. But usually, when we turn round 1 or 2 minutes, we forget everything. We are so simple.

We have same blood types, so we cannot decide to go to some places for eating, talking, or spending time. Moreover, we have a same religion, so we can share our thinking, life, and problems. I think haveing a same religion is really good for us to become best friends because it help us to know each other really deeply. And we have a same major, also. Always we can help each other in music. It also makes us to become one.

"Friend is my second self." I love this sentence and I love my friends. I miss them so much.

Do you know a movie called "Stuart Little." This movie has silly story, but I love it because it show me to impossible things. Can you imagine that pet is possible to talk and have their own thinkings? This movie shows everything to us what would happen if animals could speak. They can play games, share thinkings, go shopping together.

If animals can talk with me, I want to ask how about their lives because I think their lives are sometimes really peaceful. They do not anything just sleep a whole day. So, if they can do everything a day, what they want to do? And how can they think about human?

Christina Aguilera - "Beautiful"

One of favorite songs is "Beautiful" that Christina Aguilera sang. This song has really good lyrics. even though, this lyrics was wrote about broken relationship with love, but also I can have a rosy message. My favorite part of lyrics is "Don't you bring me down today." When I listen to this song, I always make a lot of good decisions that I can do everything, anybody can't bring me down, and I am strong. I don't know when I listen to this song first, I think I listened to it in radio. These days, I still love listening to the song.

Journal 4.

Korea has four seasons-spring, summer, fall, and winter. So, we can experience various kind of weather conditions. In spring, a lot of plants start to alive, so it is really beuatiful. In summer, we has heavy raining, so we can suffer serious problems by floods. However, summer also provide hot weather, so we can enjoy to swim in sea. In fall, a lot of areas has good landscapes. Every places are arts. In winter, we has heavy snow, so sometimes we can go out because of snow. But I really love snow. I love fall seasons because it is not hot and cold. I usually love California weather conditions to except summer season. Even though I love California weather, I want to go back Korea during winter season because I really want to see snow.

Test always makes me fearful, so I hate to take test. However, my life is series of test. I think I am always suffering body problems during test time because of too much fear or nervous. If I have a test tomorrow, I cannot sleep well. I am really senstive about everything. Also, during test time, I cannot concerntrate on my test because other people's test sounds bother me. I do not know why but I can hear a lot of sounds easier than my sounds. I am usually trying to overcome fear, but I cannot do that. Before test day, my mind has a firm determenation that I do not feel fear during test time, but I forget everything on the day. Next month, I will take a test again, but I feel fear now, even though test day is far from today. I hope I do not feel fear that day, pass the TOEFL, and overcome fear.

Always, I drive my car to get around here in America. I think U.S has good high way systems, so I can change roads easily when I enter the wrong directions. Chaning directions are really convenient in U.S. On the contrary, in Korea, changing directions are really difficult because we do not have frequently exits that can change directions, so we have to use wrong directions until we find exits. It is waste of time and gas. However, U.S does not have good transportation systems rather than Korea. Korean has really good transportation systems, so a lot of countries watn to follow our systems especially California. Maybe half year ago, I read a newspaper that showed California's governor who called Arnold Schwarzenegger visited Korea for learnging how to control transportations. We can easily to go anywhere by using transportations such as subways, buses, taxies and trains. Of course, between two transportations' time lags are short. However, in CA, I do not have experiences to get around by transportations because I have not only my own car, but also taking buese require a lot of waiting and transferring time to me.

Hello, everyone!

My name is Min Jung Wei. My English name is Kylie. I am from Korea. My major is Musical Composition. I came here on March 29, 2010. I am a conditional admission student in CSUF, so I will start to study at Music department after I pass the TOEFL. My dream is studying in NYU. After graduating NYU, I want to become a good musician who gives strong movements to every people who listen to my music in the world. I am really happy to meet all of you on this semester.

I will introduce my classmate Rokki Luo. She came from China. She is a really good person because she made me comfortable. Her life is so amazing. She came here last year for treating her sik body, so she had treated her body last year and now her body became better. Also, she has really good future plans. Her major is international business. She wants to find a job in U.S.A or go back to China for establishing her own company. She likes to live in U.S because she thinks that U.S is a free country, but she does not really likfe American food.
